COVID 19 / Corona Virus Update

With COVID 19 / Corona Virus, it has been a difficult year for many people. We are getting a lot of contacts and questions about having The Lights of Lake Park Estates this year in 2020. So the answer is yes with special conditions. There will be NO FLYERS, NO CANDY CANES and NO DOG TREATS this year at the Hospice Cart.

To prevent gatherings of people, we are also asking that there be NO FOOT TRAFFIC and NO PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC and NO WALKING THROUGH The Lights of Lake Park Estates.

This has always been a drive-through event but many people ignore this and still walk through The Lights of Lake Park Estates. We are asking the same thing this year that this is a driving event, and due to the Corona Virus / COVID 19, that people take it seriously that there is NO PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC through The Lights of Lake Park Estates, to keep everyone safe this year.

Even though this is a driving event, we ask that everyone PRACTICE GOOD HYGIENE and WEAR PROTECTIVE FACE COVERINGS.

The Lights of Lake Park Estates
To Benefit the Suncoast Hospice / Empath Health

Welcome to the website of The Lights of Lake Park Estates. The intent of this site is only to provide the public with information, maps, contact information, and photos about this event, where the neighborhoods of Lake Park Estates, Wieker, Lakeside Estates, and Lake Seminole Village, generously decorate their homes and yards with over 3.0 miles of Christmas Lights and Decorations for the public to enjoy. Donations are accepted at the Suncoast Hospice Cart located along the route. The money donated in 2019 totaled $60,551.16. 100% of the donations are provided to Suncoast Hospice to support their community activities. Please check back often, as this site is frequently updated. This is the 28th year of the Lights of Lake Park. The event has raised over $970,000 since its inception in 1993.

History

The Lights of Lake Park Estates originated in 1993 to celebrate the life of our neighbor, Ruby Dow, and salute the care she received from our community hospice, Suncoast Hospice. Because of Suncoast Hospice, Ruby lived her final days in dignity – in her own home – surrounded by those who cared about her. Those of us who had the pleasure of knowing Ruby will always remember her beautiful smile and the last Christmas she shared with us. In 2007 Eddie Dow, Ruby’s husband, whose passion and spirit made all this possible, passed away. With our memories of Ruby and Eddie shining as brightly as our holiday lights, we rededicate The Light of Lake Park Estates to both of them and Suncoast Hospice / Empath Health.
